There are many things you will have
to consider when planning and contracting your website. Below are brief
descriptions and at the bottom of this page are links to pages that
contain a more complete explanation.
Domain Name
The first thing you
need is a Domain Name. That is your unique URL address that you can
keep always. For example www.WebsitesForAllOccasions.com
is our Domain Name. We charge $40 to register your dot com name. This
fee allows you to keep the name for 1 year. After that it is renewable.
How do you know if your name is taken? We can do the search and
register your domain for you.
You can place your
site on a free server or in the free space provided by your internet
host: BUT - You will have a limited
address, such as "www.yourname@whateverserver.com". It is
more professional(and not that expensive) to have your own domain. If you
decide to move your web site to a different server, you have lost your
website address and possibly your email address. Not only do you have
to pay to move your site, but everyone who has your website address now
needs to be notified that you have a new address. Often it often
involves printing new business cards, stationery, and brochures. With a
domain name, you can move to another server and keep the same address.
So you should bite the bullet and do it right from the beginning!
The Server
Choosing a Server is
one area most clients are unfamiliar with. The decision on choosing a
server will be influenced by many variables listed on that page.
The Design
Designing your site involves many variables combining form and
function. This helps you decided what you actually want or need in web
design.
The Content
The most important part of your website is your content. Most web site
design fees are priced by certain variables... design, content, the
number of pages, the number and kind of interactive forms needed, and
the general complexity of the site. We don’t encourage you to
spend thousands of dollars – unless YOU want something that elaborate!
Multimedia
Multimedia is a combination of all those interactive elements of
movement, sound, and animation that make your web site come to life.
